London Startup Weekend – its about the location thanks IBM

Posted by damiensaunders

The IBM Offices are situated on London’s Southbank … about 10 mins walk from Waterloo or Embankment station

The offices are sandwiched between the National Theatre and the ITV TV studios.

Nearby you can find a variety of cafe’s and restaurants to hang out and many of the places like the BFI Southbank and the Royal Festival Hall offer free wifi in the public areas.

London Startup Weekend would like to thank everyone at IBM who made this happen.

Posted by damiensaunders

London Startup Weekend is just days away (June 4-6) and we’ve put together a great list of guest speakers and mentors. Startup Weekend is an intensive weekend event bringing together entrepreneurs, developers, designers, marketers & anyone else.

The challenge in planning and curating Startup Weekend is to maintain the maximum time for everyone to work in their teams. This time, London Startup Weekend has 4 guest speakers and we’ll be looking to evaluate if this is the right mix. As well as guest speakers, we have a team of mentors who will be able to help out and work on just about every project going.

Together here is a team made up of some of the best people with experience in digital marketing, social media, mobile and of course your favourite interest group – startups and entrepreneurs.

London Startup Weekend announces major prize of £1500 shared office services up for grabs

Posted by damiensaunders

London Startup Weekend (http://london.startupweekend.org) an intense 54-hour innovation and business-building event, has announced a major prize of shared office space from its sponsor eOffice. London Startup Weekend will take place June 4 – 6 2010 in just a few days at the IBM offices on London’s Southbank.

Startup Weekend is the place to come for anyone with a new idea that they want to see brought to life. Over the weekend teams work together to take the ideas and create real new ventures. One lucky team will win 3 months of shared office space worth over £1500 from eOffice (http://www.eoffice.net). The package includes a business address, mail forwarded weekly in the UK, a telephone number, telephone answering, call forwarding to one UK line and up to 100 hours of hotdesking each month.

As well, 2 Runners Up will walk away with a package of 3 months Virtual Office Premium – worth approx £600 – This includes business address, mail forwarded weekly in the UK, telephone number, call forwarding to one UK line and telephone answering service per month.

Damien Saunders UK Organiser, said “London Startup Weekend is working to find business support options for everyone that attends and the prize packages from eOffice are amazing”.

Startup Weekend is a great experience for everyone that comes along, the best thing about the weekend is what you take away from – this includes practical stuff like building your network or learning more about setting up a business.

You choose to work as a team and at the end on the Sunday night, teams present their business model, working prototype or maybe its a video – each team has a chance to win one of the many prizes.

The event is open to anyone interested in the local entrepreneurial community, and it puts them in a setting where anything is possible. Teams have even started to generate revenue during the 54hr event, and others have gone on to direct angel and VC investment.  None of this takes into account the amazing networking, ongoing professional relationships, and amazing experience that happen at every event.

Tickets are still available at £50.00 & £35 for concessions. Tickets can be brought at http://londonstartupweekendjune2010.eventbrite.com
